About me
Sue Ann Blach serves as the Mental Health Manager for Desert Sands Unified School District, where she supports the School-Based Mental Health team. A Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Board-Certified Art Therapist, she brings over 30 years of experience working with children, youth, and families in schools, health centers, and community programs.
Sue Ann is trained in multiple evidence-based practices, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. She is also internationally certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. Under her leadership, DSUSD’s School Based Mental Health team received the California Golden Bell Award for excellence in student wellness programming.
Passionate about holistic approaches, Sue Ann integrates the visual arts and animal-assisted interventions with her therapy dogs, Budders and Luna. She recently completed Yoga Teacher Training to further support staff, students, and families through mind-body wellness practices. Sue Ann has presented at numerous local and national conferences on art therapy, trauma recovery, and self-care. Her career reflects a deep commitment to promoting mental health awareness, fostering resilience, and creating supportive school communities where both students and staff can thrive.
